Marc Jacobs, a 53-year old fashion designer recently had a fashion show in New York. The multiple coloured wool dreadlocks were spotted on his models on the runway. Most important, Jena and her daughters made this hand dyed dreadlocks (12,500 in total) – what a heap of orders. However, several people have criticized this style, claiming dreadlocks are not for white people (culture appropriation). Meanwhile some  people are in support of the style.

Beside that, I thought style is for all regardless of demography. Therefore people practising a particular fashion or hair styles does not mean others cannot follow that trend. Moreover the designer keep creating beautiful artworks from time to time. Consequently, the designer has taken to his Instagram page to support his choice. He said he got his inspiration from rave culture, London 1980s.

Hence he wrote that “All who cry ‘cultural appropriation’ or whatever nonsense about any race or skin color wearing their hair in any particular style or manner – funny how you don’t criticize women of color for straightening their hair”
“I respect and am inspired by people and they look. I don’t see colour or race – I see people. I’m sorry to read that so many are so narrow minded…Love is the answer”

“Appreciation of all and inspiration from anywhere is a beautiful thing. (sic)”
